Originally I belonged to the Kashmir Guides before my family migrated to Jammu due to terrorism. My country is a place of many religions like Hinduism, Christianity, Islam and Sikhism. All religions carry the message of love, peace and brotherhood.
There are many ways in which people celebrate their birthdays here. Some distribute sweets and clothing to the poor; others will spend time volunteering in aged care homes and or have friends and family throw a party. Many will not have enough money to celebrate.
Personally I start my day with blessings. Then I will distribute clothing, food, stationary and books to people in need, before spending time in an aged care home. That evening my family and friends will host a party, including a cake cutting ceremony. I will wear a simple dress. I am sure my friends and family will gift me something memorable, but all I need is blessings.
I am very proud to be Indian. Here love and humanity is the essence of life. We believe in unity and diversity, we also have a rich cultural heritage. I am from the Jammu and Kashmir state. Commonly our community is referred to as Kashmiri Pandit migrants.
Whenever I wear my Girl Guide uniform I feel special and unique, but also a sense of responsibility. World Thinking Day is a time to think about others, Guiding and its global impact. It’s also a time to create awareness for global concerns.
The majority of people do not support girls in my state. I personally feel there are only a few people willing to help girls grow. As a Girl Guide I have been given moral values and allowed to grow up with independence. Girl Guiding has also helped me to join other activities, like cricket. I have been selected to represent my state in the sport.

Guiding has a big impact on our community. As a Guide I have been given values and ethics which have helped me to grow up and become more independent. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi implemented a scheme focusing on the theme, “beti padhao beti bachao,” which means educate girls and save girls. Similarly I always try to impart the same on my community.
