The Europe Region Committee members hold tailored portfolios to drive the implementation of the Triennial Action Plan. Teams of volunteers, led by one or two lead volunteers, will actively contribute to and support the plan’s delivery while working closely with portfolio holders. These volunteer teams will regularly report their progress to the lead volunteers, who will, in turn, update the portfolio holders.

Volunteer roles will require varying levels of commitment throughout the triennium, with an expected time contribution of approximately 10-15 hours per month. The volunteer teams will remain in place until the end of the triennium in 2025.

Our volunteers bring diverse skills and experiences to support the Europe Region Action Plan for the 2023-2025 triennium. They are:

  • Active members of a WAGGGS Member Organisation (SAGNO, WAGGGS-only, or WAGGGS-only admitting boys).
  • Volunteers of all ages (with strong encouragement for young people under 30 to apply).
  • Proficient in English and familiar with online collaboration tools.
  • Passionate about contributing their time and energy to the guiding and scouting movement.
  • Motivated to grow as leaders and take on the responsibility of Lead Volunteer roles.

In all of those situations, Guides and Scouts across Europe stepped up and provided support. This has been identified as a key topic for this triennium's work. The Crisis support volunteer team support the region's work on this important issue.

Mental Health Working Group

Mental health has become an increasingly important topic amongst younger people and especially girls and young women. The Europe region intends to support its MOs more in this area. We want to start the conversation as to how this topic can be addressed and how good mental health can be achieved amongst our volunteers and members. We acknowledge that this is a very sensitive topic which has to be addressed the right way, so we have assembled a group of volunteers who can enrich the region with experience and skills in this field.

The Joint Work Working Group is tasked with improving joint working methods, via stakeholder consultation and SWOT analysis. The members of the team support the European Guide and Scout Conference in defining methods for, and monitoring the implementation of, the joint action plan - while leading the work on the Concept Review for Roverway.

Environmental Project in Europe

The WAGGGS Europe Region Environmental project is an initiative that aims to educate and engage Member Organisations in environmental conservation. Although the main audience is Member Organisations, our goal is to encourage Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to promote sustainable practices and protect the environment in their communities.

The aim of the WAGGGS Environmental project is not just about environmental education but also around advocacy, individual & collective actions.

- How Member Organisations are working on local environmental issues and are empowered to find solutions?

- How Member Organizations are encouraging young people to take action in their own communities to promote sustainable practices and protect the environment?

Ultimately, the Environmental project is about creating a network of young environmental leaders. This network will allow them to share ideas, learn from each other, and draw on a wealth of collective experience.
