Since 1932 we have been providing this inter-cultural, inspirational and international experience. It builds friendships across borders and helps young women step outside of their comfort zones. This event is all about empowering participants with the leadership practices and mindsets they need to succeed.
JULIETTE LOW SEMINAR 2022: #Lead4Impact
The JLS 2022 is breaking barriers to leadership by supporting young women to broaden their perspectives, lead for impact, and create pathways for girls to be heard.
In 2022 the Seminar empowered over 400 young women (aged 18-30) around the world with leadership practices, global perspectives, and a peer support network to take the lead in their lives and act on their value to bring positive social change to their world. The JLS is informed by the WAGGGS Global Strategy 2022-2023.
The JLS 2022 Programme:
The JLS 2022 Programme Is Divided Into Three Parts:
Meteor, Meteorite and Meteoroid are three terms that refer to the different stages in which a piece of debris travels through space and lands on Earth.
- Phase 1: When the object is in space away from the Earth, it is referred to as a Meteoroid.
- Phase 2: When it enters the Earth’s atmosphere, it becomes a Meteor.
- Phase 3: When the debris lands on Earth, it is referred to as a Meteorite.
The JLS 2022 programme has three phases just like the Meteor!
Phase One - Meteoroid - December 2022
Phase One of the JLS 2022 was launched on the International Day of the Girl and continued until November. This part of the JLS was all about gathering momentum by self-guided learning on Campfire, meetings with patrols under the guidance of mentors and optional fun sessions to get to know everyone on the JLS journey.
During this phase participants also wrote the JLS 2022 song “We Are Movement” and made a choreography to go along with it. Watch the clip to learn the dance moves to our song!
Phase Two - Meteor - October 2022
During phase two of the JLS 2022 over 400 participants and 83 volunteers came together for a 10 day online event filled with sessions aimed to give participants the tools they needed to understand the WAGGGS Leadership model and develop their 100 Girls Projects.
Phase Three - Meteorite - January to June 2023
In 2023 the Juliette Low Seminar moved into its third phase as participants get ready to #Lead4Impact in their own communities supported by their mentors and the JLS team.
Over 300 young people are now implementing their 100 Girls Projects impacting at least 100 girls aged 12+ in their communities. So far the 100 Girls Projects have impacted over 30,436 young people around the world.
