We are proud to partner with Malala Fund on initiatives that amplify girls’ voices in global education advocacy and policy, ensuring that girls most affected by inequality are shaping the systems designed to support their right to safe, quality and empowering education.

WAGGGS and the Malala Fund have partnered on two key initiatives to centre girls' voices in global education policy and advocacy. Through the Girls’ Vision for Education consultation, Advocacy Champions from WAGGGS Member Organisations in Tanzania, Brazil, Nigeria, Lebanon, Egypt and Sierra Leone led workshops with girls from disadvantaged and diverse backgrounds to explore their needs and aspirations for education. Their insights contributed to Malala Fund’s global report launched ahead of CSW69, highlighting the urgent need for governments to deliver safe, quality, empowering education that reflects what girls themselves want.

Additionally, WAGGGS collaborated on Malala Fund’s pilot Fellowship Programme, which supported ten young women from five countries over 18 months. Participants received training on WAGGGS’ Stop the Violence (STV) curriculum ‘Voices against Violence’ and advocacy programmes, helping them develop agency and movement-building skills. The Fellowship, rooted in feminist, intersectional and rights-based approaches, aimed to amplify the leadership of girls most affected by educational inequality – those living in poverty, facing discrimination or excluded from decision-making spaces.

Both initiatives work towards ensuring girls are not only heard but are shaping the systems meant to serve them, contributing to a stronger, more inclusive global movement for girls’ education.

“At the end of the Fellowship, Malala Fund conducted an evaluation where Fellows reported that the highlight of their learning journey had been engaging in the Voices against Violence and STV trainings. The leadership and expertise of the STV team was critical in shaping the experience of the Fellows and in building their knowledge and confidence to take action.”

About Malala Fund

Malala Fund is working for a world where every girl can learn and choose her own future. Malala Fund works to ensure all girls can access and complete 12 years of education. They focus on secondary school, typically grades 7–12, when gender discrimination most often causes girls to leave school. Completing secondary school opens up opportunities for girls to make their own life choices, allowing them to reach their fullest potential.
