We are proud to partner with the Spectris Foundation on a project which will deliver on our shared purpose of championing more equal opportunities in STEM.
Our partnership began in 2024, and in collaboration with two of our Member Organisations, Nepal Scouts and Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association, we will roll out a new and exciting STEM programme for over 15,000 girls and young women across the two countries.
The initiative will inspire and engage girls and young women with STEM in a safe and fun non-formal education environment where they will gain a strong understanding of the importance of STEM to their own daily lives and to the future of our world. We are excited to empower the next generation of girls and young women in Nepal and Sri Lanka with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue STEM education, careers, and leadership as equal participants and contributors to the field.
Through the project, we will also strengthen the capacity and confidence of the adult volunteer Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting leaders in the region to deliver the newly developed STEM programme, thus enabling them to become supportive champions of STEM and helping the project to be sustainable beyond the initial funded period.
"We very much look forward to working with WAGGGS to enable girls and young women in Sri Lanka and Nepal to develop their understanding of STEM, to see STEM as a credible career option, and to know that they have the capacity to lead change in all areas of STEM now, and in the future."
