How we help

Supporting the Olave Baden-Powell Society makes a real difference to the lives of girls and young women globally

OB-PS helps to provide stability to WAGGGS and the future of the international Movement of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and helps ensure that WAGGGS is able to achieve the goals set out in its Strategic Plan. OB-PS provides core funding as well as assisting with exciting projects, programmes and campaigns.

The Olave Baden-Powell Society supports WAGGGS in two ways:

  1. Through donations to the WAGGGS core areas of Membership Development, Advocacy and Leadership Development where donations are used directly for the day-to-day operations.
  2. Through donations to the WAGGGS Endowment Fund, which provides WAGGGS with enough interest income to cover about 1/12th of its operations.

Following their initial contribution OB-PS members and also non-members can support our fundraising campaigns to enable additional activities or projects for girls and young women. Examples of past projects can be found

Members and non-members can also give to the Anne Scott Fund, which provides Girl Guides and Girl Scouts with small grants for their participation in WAGGGS programmes and visiting WAGGGS World Centres.

"I want to give a little back... my girl guiding years helped to shape who I am today, and in return I wish to be part of a group such as OB-PS that empowers young women and girls to achieve their fullest potential, and become leaders of tomorrow. If you train a Girl, you train a Nation. If you educate a Woman, you educate a Nation."
