“The WAGGGS Medal of Service is the highest form of recognition that WAGGGS can bestow and is awarded to individuals (volunteers or staff) who have distinguished themselves in their outstanding service to Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting at national and global level. The Medal of Service expresses gratitude to members of the Association whose service is considered to be exceptional, noteworthy and/or extraordinary in nature."

Ana Maria Mideros (Peru) - World Board

Ana Maria has played a critical strategic role in supporting WAGGGS on the journey to deliver key messages to MOs to ensure that Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting becomes more dynamic and true to heart. She has taken time off work to invest her time and effort in enabling WAGGGS to become more effective in all areas of the capacity building. This shows her true commitment to ensuring that she can perform at her best capabilities during her time as the Chair.

“She is a leader capable of empathising with volunteers, sharing their experiences; knowledge and skills to make changes that help grow volunteers and in return the Organisations.”

Chairing the Board during a very challenging time has brought out the leadership in Ana Maria very distinctively. Highly emphatic without losing sight of what is required and anticipated of a World Board Chair, Ana Maria has ably led the Board towards a stronger and more versatile WAGGGS.

Her 30 years working for Asociación Nacional de Guías Scouts del Perú is a showcase of her passion, enthusiasm, willingness to take on challenges, decision-making, managing changes and desire to constantly look for opportunities..

Her passion to empower girls and young women to grow, lead and change the world makes her a worthy candidate to receive WAGGGS Medal of Service.
