The past twelve months have marked an extraordinary time for the Girl Guide and Girl Scout Movement. Across the world girls and young woman has pressed for change in their own lives and wider communities. Over and over they have shown a fearless commitment to make life better for women and girls.

Sarah NancollasIn Malaysia, our guides are campaigning against child marriage, after a loophole in the law allowed a 41 year old man to marry an 11 year old girl.

In Chile, our Girl Guides are campaigning against street harassment.

In the USA, our Girl Scouts fought for a new bill to ban plastic straws.

As part of our flagship Stop the Violence campaign, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts are currently working to end human trafficking in South Africa and to eliminate child marriage in Malaysia.

It is our mission to enable girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world.  It’s our vision to create a world where all girls are valued and take action.

This year on International Woman’s Day we have launched our first Advocacy Toolkit.  Devised by girls for girls – it will help young women plan campaigns and advocate for change.  The toolkit – isn’t just for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, we hope it will be used by young women all over the world to #BalanceforBetter

It is our mission to enable girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world.  It’s our vision to create a world where all girls are valued and take action. This is why the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts invites you to speak out.

Whether your advocacy campaigns are large or small, national or local, we encourage you to use this Toolkit to shatter stereotypes and glass ceilings and run towards your future.  #ForHerWorld @wagggs_world

Best Wishes,

Sarah
