Knowing how to protect yourself online is an essential skill for young people today. Get the most out of the internet through Surf Smart 2.0.
We are delighted to announce the launch of the updated Surf Smart 2.0 curriculum. This launch marks the next phase of Surf Smart, introducing brand new content on artificial intelligence and mental wellbeing in the digital space.
Girl Guides and Girl Scouts enable you to develop your fullest potential as a responsible citizen of the world. But when such a big part of our world today is lived online, what does it mean to be a responsible citizen in online spaces? How can we navigate the online world safely and responsibly, making the most of the opportunities it offers to learn and create? And how can we use online spaces to raise our voices and participate in social change, to make the world, both online and offline, a better place?
Surf Smart is a non-formal education curriculum designed to support children and young people to connect safely and positively online. It began as a response to the growing need for internet safety education among girls and young women. Over the years, it has evolved into a global movement that not only equips participants with digital skills but also fosters leadership and advocacy for safer online spaces.
The programme aims to raise a generation of internet-savvy children and young people who can use the internet to make a positive difference in the world also to equip a generation of children and young people to lead change, speak out and take action to create a safer, and more inclusive internet for everyone.
The new curriculum includes activities on mental and emotional wellbeing in the digital space, helping participants explore how technology affects emotions, relationships and self-image and how to protect their wellbeing while staying connected online.
