As we come to the end of 2019, we would like to take time to thank the dedicated group of women that we work with across the world, from our World Board and Committee Members, to volunteers and staff in every region and Member Organisation.

Happy New Year 2019

Your dedication transforms the lives of girls and young women, supporting and empowering them to be the best they can be as responsible citizens of the world.

The hundreds of thousands of people that engaged with Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting on social media on December 5, International Volunteer Day , demonstrates the incredible reach of our Movement worldwide. We love hearing from Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and learning about the incredible stories of girls take action to create an impact in their communities.

It is your enthusiasm, and that of all of our volunteers, that motivates us to continue to live out the values of the Movement.

We are brave, inclusive and empowering

The Juliette Low Seminar this year brought together more than 700 participants, facilitators, staff and volunteers in our largest ever leadership event, empowering participants to #LeadOutLoud . It took bravery to make the decision to move from 50 to 500 participants, and from one to 18 hubs, but we have been overwhelmed with the incredible feedback from everyone involved. We cannot wait for 2021 and the opportunity that awaits us.

We also would like to recognize the many individuals and Member Organisations who supported the #ImHereForHer campaign during16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence . By turning places where girls meet into safe spaces for girls and young women, we stand in solidarity with those experiencing harassment and gender-based violence and we encourage those to use their voices and speak out.

We are member-driven, transparent and professional

2020 will be an incredibly exciting time; a time to re-energize at World Conference and build on everything we have been working on over the last few years. We eagerly anticipate working together on Compass 2032, our aspirational 12-year vision and roadmap to a thriving, united, global Movement.

We will see the fruits of new partnerships, like with Avon Foundation- which supports girls in developing girl-led national advocacy campaigns against gender based violence - and renewed partnerships, like with UPS, which focuses on diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the Movement. We are also excited to see Associate Members become full Members and several new associations joining WAGGGS for the first time. What a year ahead!

Please do share this message widely within your organisations and continue to connect with us through all of our dedicated communications channels, whether phone, email, in person or on social media. We love to hear from you.

Yours in Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting,
Ana María Mideros (Chair, World Board) and Sarah Nancollas (Chief Executive)
