“I am very proud to be Chief Executive of this organisation and I am excited about what we are going to achieve in the future.”
The new Chief Executive of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) has been announced as Sarah Nancollas, former Chief Executive of children’s charity Variety.
Sarah, who started her new role on 5 March, comes to WAGGGS with a wealth of international and corporate leadership and strategic experience. For the past two decades she has been Chief Executive of a number of high profile charities and has a very successful track record in leading successful complex change and development.
Sarah said: “WAGGGS is an organisation which has gender equality and girl’s rights at the centre of its cause, a cause I feel very passionately about.
“We empower 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world to speak out on issues that are important to them and to make a real impact. WAGGGS ensures girls have the right support and have the right tools and skills to change their world and we want to show them their potential is endless.
“I am very proud to be Chief Executive of this organisation and I am excited about what we are going to achieve in the future.”
WAGGGS’ World Board Chair, Ana Maria Mideros said: “I am delighted to welcome Sarah to WAGGGS as our new Chief Executive. I believe her appointment signals a very exciting new era for us. She brings with her a huge amount of experience and vision which will benefit not just WAGGGS as an organisation, but the whole Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Movement around the world.”
Prior to her role at Variety, Sarah was Chief Executive of Lepra, a non-governmental organisation with 650 staff working to fight disease, poverty and prejudice where she transitioned it from being a medically-focused to a people-focused development charity.
Sarah was also Chief Executive of Canon Collins Trust, a southern African education charity where she introduced a number of activities to specifically empower women and girls.
