TEMPORARY AMENDED BOOKING TERMS AND CONDITIONS IN RESPONSE TO COVID19:

While many of us are in isolation we’re dreaming of travel, but it can be difficult to decide if now is a good time to book a future trip. To make it easier to book a trip to Our Chalet in 2020 we have made some temporary changes to our booking terms and conditions.

For new bookings made between May and end of June 2020 Our Chalet will offer the option to rebook to another date without any rebooking fees (cost difference may apply) or to cancel and receive a full refund, excluding bank fees. This applies to bookings for independent stays and events taking place from July 2020 – May 2021. Cancellation must be made in writing with a minimum of 72 hours’ notice for independent guests and four weeks’ notice for those taking part in an event or booked to take part in programme activities. Rebooking dates must be a maximum of 12 months in advance for independent stays and 18 months in advance for events. All other booking terms and conditions apply as normal.

For ski packages we have also extended the deposit deadline – no deposits will be due on these packages until 1 October 2020.

Scholarships:

We continue to have scholarships available to help members of Guiding/Scouting who would otherwise be unable to afford to attend an event at Our Chalet. We have expanded which events scholarships are available for and members can now apply for a scholarship to attend any event (not a ski package or independent stay) from September – December 2020, including New Year’s Break. You can find details of who is eligible and how to apply for a scholarship here. Note that due to travel restrictions related to COVID19 it is most likely that those residing in Europe will be able to travel to Our Chalet, particularly in September/October. Please think carefully about whether or not you are likely to be able to travel before applying for a scholarship.

Build your own programme:

For groups who would like to camp or stay indoors at Our Chalet and plan their own programme we can offer a range of Our Chalet led programme - from WAGGGS educational sessions to guided hikes to excursions – to supplement your own activities. Groups can choose to take part in as many programmes as they would like from one evening to multiple days. For more information on this option please e-mail programme@ourchalet.wagggs.org.

Our usual booking opening dates apply as follows:

In order to allow as many participants as possible to take part in our events we operate different booking opening dates for different types of event and guests. Broadly these are:

Summer

  • Summer Youth Events - 24 months in advance
  • Independent groups in Summer (10 or more guests) - 12 months in advance
  • Independent guests in Summer (up to nine guests) - 9 months in advance
  • Day visits/tours - 6 months in advance

Other seasons

  • Events, except Summer Youth Events - 18 months in advance
  • Independent guests/groups in Spring/Autumn/Winter - 12 months in advance
  • Day visits/tours - 6 months in advance

November/early December

  • Our Chalet is closed in November and early December. No visits, including day visits, are possible during this time.
  • Our Chalet reopens in mid-December and is open to both event and independent guests over the Christmas period.
