Bookings for Summer Youth Events (Discover, Explore, Adventure) are open now. It is important that you choose the event that has the right activities mix for the abilities of your group - please read the Information Packs carefully before choosing your preferred event dates.

To ensure your group books onto the event that meets their interests and physical abilities, we ask that group leaders read the Information Packs and Summer Youth Events 2022 FAQs carefully prior to making a booking enquiry.

Autumn (September-October)

Walking Week - 10-17 September 2022 - from CHF 249 camping and CHF 676 indoor full board

NOTE: Walking Week and Hiking Week run over the same dates. If you are an experienced mountain hiker, Hiking Week may be more suitable for you (see next event listing below).

This is the perfect event for those new to walking in the mountains and is suitable for individuals, families, friends, and groups. Guided walks take place at a comfortable pace, allowing plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and get to know your fellow walkers. Walks range in distance from 7 to 15 km and take place in the Swiss Alps on easy to moderate terrain.

Participants do not need to be members of Guiding or Scouting. The event is open to all genders. The minimum age to take part is 12 years. If taking part with their family, younger children with mountain walking experience may be permitted to join this event, so please discuss this with our programme team prior to booking. There is no upper age limit.


Important: This event requires a good level of fitness, including the ability to carry a backpack weighing up to 10kg and to walk uphill AND downhill including over steeper inclines for several kilometres. You should also be comfortable walking on uneven terrain and in all weather conditions. Participants are required to bring their own equipment including walking boots with ankle support and good grip.

Hiking Week - 10-17 September 2022 - from CHF 379 camping and CHF 806 indoor full board

NOTE: Walking Week and Hiking Week run over the same dates. If you are a new to mountain hiking, Walking Week may be more suitable for you (see previous event listing above).

Hiking Week is designed for those with mountain hiking/walking experience looking for a fun, friendly, and relaxed hiking holiday. Hikes are a maximum of 14km per day but include up to 1,700m of altitude difference. The highlight of the week is an overnight hike to the Bluemlisalphutte where you will stay in a traditional Swiss mountain hut and enjoy the sunset at 2,840m. In taking part in this hike you will complete one section of the famous Via Alpina trail.

Participants do not need to be members of Guiding or Scouting. The event is open to all genders. The minimum age to take part is 14 years. If taking part with their family, younger children with mountain walking experience may be permitted to join this event, so please discuss this with our programme team prior to booking. There is no upper age limit.

Important: This event is designed for people with mountain hiking experience and a good level of fitness. It is not suitable for those with a fear of heights or those who are unable to stay at an altitude of up to 2,900m. Participants must be able to walk uphill AND downhill over uneven and steep terrain for long distances and in all weather conditions. All participants must carry their own gear, including everything needed for an overnight stay. Guests must bring their own equipment including hiking boots with ankle support and good grip.

For families, friends, or groups of mixed ability it is possible to book some of your party on to Walking Week and some on to Hiking Week and stay in the same accommodation and take part in the same evening programmes (except for on the overnight hike day). Please make clear when booking how many people you wish to book on to each event.

International Friendship Week - 29 September to 7 October 2022 - CHF1,198 full board

International Friendship Week is an opportunity for adult members of Guiding and Scouting to have an adventure in the Swiss Alps and to meet international Guiding/Scouting friends. This event is open to members age 18+ and is suitable for individuals, friends and groups. There is no upper age limit!

The event includes six day programmes and a free day. Due to the impact of the pandemic on the tourism industry, it is possible we may need to make substitutions to activities closer to the event start date. The planned programme activities include:

  • Day trip by coach to Luzern and Brunnen, including a visit to the Victoronix museum
  • Day trip by coach to Gruyere, including fondue lunch at La Maison du Gruyère and visit to Maison Cailler for all things chocolate
  • Guided 2-hour kayak tour on Lake Brienz
  • Boat trip on Lake Thun
  • Half-day taster session of Eisttock (similar to curling)
  • Easy half-day hike incorporating a trip on the steepest Post Bus route in Europe
  • Half-day onsite activity at Our Chalet
  • Six evening programmes

The free day is your opportunity to plan your own activity or outing, or simply spend a day relaxing at Our Chalet!

The package price includes:

  • Eight nights' accommodation (bed linen and towels provided)
  • Three meals per day from dinner on arrival night to packed lunch on departure day
  • Luggage transfer from Adelboden Oey bus stop or car parking onsite
  • Six day programmes and six evening programmes
  • Wifi (on one device) - available in common areas

Travel to/from Our Chalet is NOT included.

Note: The Cheryl A Watkins scholarship, available to women aged 60+ with 20+ years in Guiding/Scouting, can be used towards the accommodation portion of the package cost for this event. Full details here.

Autumn in the Alps - 16-22 October 2022 and 23-29 October 2022

This event is ideal for individuals, families, and groups of all genders who want to experience a variety of activities, from hiking and climbing to sightseeing and shopping for souvenirs at the local woodcarvers.

Members of Guiding/Scouting and non-members are all welcome to this event.

Integrated throughout the programme are activities and challenges to complete the YUNGA Forest Challenge Badge. This badge has been developed in collaboration with United Nations agencies, civil society and other organisations to raise awareness, educate and motivate participants to change their behaviour and become active changemakers in the local community. What is included in the package price?

  • Six nights' accommodation in rooms allocated by Our Chalet
  • Klettersteig and climbing tower equipment hire
  • All meals; from dinner on arrival day, to a packed lunch on departure day (for catered packages)
  • Five day programmes and five evening programmes
  • Luggage transfer from Adelboden Oey bus stop on arrival and departure (between 8am and 6pm)
  • Self-catering accommodation and camping available
