The 15th WAGGGS Western Hemisphere Regional Conference will be held from 8 to 12 July 2019 in Grenada, at the Radisson Grenada Beach Resort. Participants will arrive on 7 July and depart on 13 July.
The Regional Conference is a key opportunity to come together for one of our most important governance events. During the conference, we will develop the future strategic vision of our movement, align our service delivery plan with the needs, interests, and priorities of Member Organisations, and work together to explore tools and resources to expand Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting within our Region. We will share best practices, learn from each other, and make new connections.
Conference programme highlights include:
- Election of the new Regional Committee to lead the way for 2019 - 2022
- Forum sessions where you are invited to exchange expertise and ideas about topics including girl experience and program, volunteerism, governance, leadership, and organisational management
- Research outcomes from World Conference Motion 32 on young women in leadership
- Visioning to give our Region a voice in setting the strategic direction of WAGGGS that will be finalised and presented at the World Conference 2020 in Uganda
- Triennial review of where we have come in the last three years, and where we plan to head for the coming three
- Overview of new WAGGGS tools, such as the refreshed Worldly Leadership Model and the Capacity Assessment Tool
- Young women’s pre-conference event
As you prepare for the conference, we encourage you to start identifying candidates to stand for election for the 2019 - 2022 Western Hemisphere Regional Committee. We aim to present a diverse and talented pool of candidates, including young women, who have the skills and ability to set the strategic direction of the Region and contribute to the implementation of our global strategy.
Additionally, we encourage you to start identifying areas of strength within your own organisation that you might like to share during the Conference Forum. Collectively, our Region has vast experience that can be leveraged to strengthen organisations of all sizes.
The theme of the 15th Western Hemisphere Girl Guide and Girl Scout Conference is Unite, Thrive, Grow.
So, join us as we come together to unite our members. Together we will Thrive as an organisation as we take steps to discover how we will grow our membership.
