2012 has been a year full of initiatives aiming to create a better world, a more equal and just world, a world where poverty is a history and there is a bright new beginning. The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts has joined the campaign for the World We Want by having delegations of young women sharing their voices and priorities for the better world at important events, by running new campaigns and helping to build the vision of the World We Want for Girls. With the Millennium Development Goals' (MDGs) deadline expiring in 2015, 2013 will be even busier. Here is what you can still do in 2012 and take your amazing work further to 2013.
WAGGGS, as a member of the International Steering Committee of the Global Youth Forum applauds the hard work of 900 participants and 2000 virtual participants who contributed to this Outcome Document. 10 young women-strong delegation of WAGGGS brought a different perspective and added value to the forum with particular focus on the three of the five key themes of the Forum, namely comprehensive education, transitions to decent employment for youth and fully inclusive civic participation. WAGGGS delegates acted as facilitators and rapporteurs for the above mentioned themes and two of our delegates, Nefeli Themeli from Greek Guiding Association and Pippa Gardner from Girlguiding UK presented the recommendations for the Comprehensive education and Leadership and civil participation. The Outcome document will feed into the ICPD+20 review process and shaping of the post-2015 development agenda.
