Applications are now being accepted for the Fifth World Centre pilot project event which will take place from 6-11 May 2013 in Kigali, Rwanda. The event will focus on ‘Stop the Violence’ campaign training. The event is open to both young women under 30 and women over 30 from Member Organizations in all Regions who are willing and interested to work on the Stop the Violence campaign back in their home countries.
Along with the opportunity to foster leadership and advocacy skills, participants will take part in a community visit and learn more about gender based violence through non-formal educational activities and through the experiences of the Guides Association of Rwanda during this week-long event.
This is also a special and limited opportunity to participate in one of the Fifth World Centre pilot project events. Thanks to the generous donation from the Maersk Muller Foundation, the pilot is a project running from July 2011-July 2013 exploring how WAGGGS can bring a World Centre experience using existing facilities in Africa. The ‘centre’ has no fixed site but changes location at every event, bringing international experiences for girls and young women in different countries in Africa. To find out more about the pilot project, please visit the pilot project webpage: www.wagggs.org/en/world/centres/fifthworldcentre.
Applications, along with more information about the event can be found at: www.wagggs.org/en/fifthworldcentrerwanda Please note that a limited number of grants will also be available. All forms are due by 31 January 2013.
