Each year, WAGGGS sends a delegation of young women to attend the official UN talks on climate change. As the largest voluntary organization for girls and young women in the world, WAGGGS has a responsibility to advocate for the rights of girls and young women and ensure that their voices and interests are represented and acknowledged in global decision-making processes.
This year, the talks will be held in Paris from 30 November to 11 December, where world leaders will work to reach an agreement on climate change and take steps to limit global warming. The decisions that are made at COP21 this year will dramatically impact what kind of world today’s young people inherit. Four young WAGGGS delegates – from Sweden, France, Costa Rica, and the Maldives – will be in Paris to participate in the talks and speak up for the right of girls to inherit a sustainable future.
