Every year, 1.4 million children under five die from infections like diarrhoea and pneumonia. Lots of these deaths can be prevented with the simple act of washing hands with soap.
We have partnered with Unilever's soap brand, Lifebuoy, to take this message to more than 89,000 Guides and Scouts across India.
Using a customised pack featuring Lifebuoy’s School of 5 Superhero Sparkle as a Girl Guide, Bharat Scouts and Guides learn about the importance of handwashing with soap. Through interactive games, habit formation activities and superhero comic books, Guides and Scouts are empowered to spread the message of handwashing with soap across their own communities with family and friends.
By the end of 2017, Guides and Scouts had reached 800,000 people with information about handwashing.
