“My favourite thing about my community is they work together"
Meet Kulsum, 26, from Bangladesh
I’m part of the Soda Prostut Ranger Open Unit in Mogbazar, Dhaka. When I was a Ranger, I lived in the Guide home. The environment and people were good and friendly, the weather was also good.
A regular day for me includes study as I go to college. After I have finished my classes I come home and do house work. People where I live are very friendly. They always support me. Girls are active in their work. Also they also enjoy study.
My favourite thing about my community is they work together. In other words, they believe unity is strength.
I find about guiding through my school & former general secretary Jinat Ahmed Chowdhury. Our former national commissioner Rehana Banu was the guide leader of my unit. She also conducted meetings. Mostly we are talking about the upcoming events and planning during our meetings.
Girl guides did many positive things in my community like tree planting, awareness programmes and helping to stop violence against women and girls.
I began Guiding as a yellow bird. I also did many camps, workshop and rallies.
