Our Chalet Family Summer 2017
Meet our current staff team
Current Staff and Volunteers at Our Chalet!
Tanya Tulloch (USA) : Our Chalet World Centre Manager
Tanya comes to us from Beaverton, Oregon where she worked for Columbia River Girl Scout Council for 12 years as a Manager. As a Girl Scout growing up in Kentucky she liked to participate in adventure activities such as rapelling, hiking and camping. She has fallen in love with snow sports in her adult life inthe Cascade Mountains.
The idea of reaching the mission of WAGGGS through the outdoor adventure and leadership experiences has drawn Tanya to work at Our Chalet. Her background with camp management, volunteer development and strategic planning will help her to add to the team as a World Centre Manager. She is looking forward to meeting Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and other guests from all over the world while she is here.
Nikki Tucker (UK) : Deputy World Centre Manager, Operations
Hello, I am Nikki and I come from Warwick in the UK. I have been involved in Girlguiding for many years. I fell in love with Our Chalet on the first visit and have since visited many times before becoming a member of the Long Term Staff team. I'm a big fan of the outdoors and am relishing the mountain air and the fantastic hikes. In my spare time I am passionate about music and play tenor horn. My husband and I play in the Adelboden Salvation Army Band here in the village and also with Brass Band of Frutigen further down the valley. In any remaining spare time I love to travel and read.
Sarah Wach (USA) : Deputy World Centre Manager, Programme
I'm Sarah and I am from sunny Miami, Florida in the USA. I've been a Scout for over 20 years and have filled many roles within the movement, eventually finding my home here at Our Chalet. Growing up near the ocean means I spent a lot of time snorkeling, SCUBA diving, and kayaking, but relish the opportunity to spend so much time playing in the snow in this winter paradise! I tries to get outdoors as much as possible, using my free time to hike, raft, sledge, and ski. Here at Our Chalet my heart lies in the programme and the people; I especially enjoy challenging young people to try things they never thought possible (both guests and staff alike).
Rosie Greaves (UK) : Guest Services Co-Ordinator
Hi I'm Rosie and I'm from from Cambridgeshire in the UK, and in 2010 I was a Spring Volunteer her at Our Chalet. Since then, I have mostly been working in France but have managed to make regular return visits and am very excited to be back in the Swiss Alps! I have been involved in Guiding since I was five, and help out at my local Rainbow, Brownie and Guide meetings and events whenever possible during my flying visits back to the UK. In my free time, I enjoy horse riding and hiking, and am hoping to explore new hiking routes as well as re-visit old favourites. Later on, I am looking forward to playing in the snow and learning to ski. I also enjoy exploring new cities and countries, trying new food, and hopefully learning some of the local language along the way.
Simone Voit (Germany) : Programme Co-Ordinator
Hallo, I’m Simone and I’m from Germany. Before finally making it to the beautiful valley of Adelboden I was also living in the US, Norway and Austria.
I’ve been a scout since I was 8. In my association we sing a lot, so I can play the guitar, at least a little bit. Walking up mountains is one of my passions, just as much as snowboarding, but I also do not mind a cozy night in with tea and a movie.
Adrian Topic (Slovenia) : Grounds & Maintenance Assistant
My name is Adrian, I am 30 years old and I come from Slovenia. For the last few years I have been working as a professional truck driver. I have loved nature and the outdoors ever since I was a child especially the forest. I have also been a volunteer fire fighter for the past 15 years. I am looking forward to working at Our Chalet and discovering more about life here in the Swiss Alps.
Anne Sauer (Germany) : Kitchen Manager
Hello, my name is Anne and I am from
Germany. As the kitchen manager I ensure that everybody gets good food and
stays well fed at Our Chalet.
After getting my A-Levels in Germany I became an Autumn Volunteer here and decided to stay because this is such a beautiful place in the Swiss Alps with so many things to do and challenges to complete.
I became a Girl Scout, when I was ten years old, and am a Girl Scout leader for four years now. I am still actively participating in some local leader teams of my member organization via Skype.
As I love scouting, meeting new people and traveling I am looking forward to learn a lot about the different cultures at Our Chalet and in scouting worldwide and learning new life skills.
Nicole Grossen-Wilhelm (Switzerland) : Bookkeeper
Nicole is one of several Swiss members of our long term staff team. She studied accounting which eventually brought her to Our Chalet as a bookkeeper. Nicole s a true Swiss at heart is a life time devotee to white sports - perhaps being a Ski Instructor at Adelboden Ski & Snowboard school for several years has something to do with it. She has two young children and a very patient husband. Nicole works with us one day a week but we are of course always badgering her to come more often, even if only to give us beginner ski tips and have fun with us. She is also one of those efficient, hard working young women who simply knows how to just "fix things" when it comes to numbers, or taking calls in Schwytzerdütsch, an exotic language which none of us can really understand. She is fun too and joins us keenly in laughing at our office fun.
Skippy Storrow (Switzerland) : Mouse Catcher
Skippy is from Adelboden in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. Her Scouting experience is vast as she has spent much of her time at Our Chalet and is currently our longest serving member of staff!
She loves to explore the grass, eat bugs and mice and protects the grounds and guests from any possible predators such as marmots and slugs. In her free time she likes to sleep in the sunshine or in a cardboard box on someone's desk.
Eunice Akinyi Obath (Kenya) : Guest Services Intern
My name is Eunice; I am a Young Leader from Kenya and currently serving as the Guest Services Intern here at Our Chalet. I have recently completed my undergraduate studies in BSc. Strategic Management and am waiting to graduate soon.
I have been a Girl Guide since the age of 5 and this experience has been life changing for me as it has molded me into the person I am today. Getting an opportunity to serve in a World Centre is therefore a dream come true for me and I only hope to make the best out of my time here while selflessly giving back to Guiding. I hope to gain immense leadership skills, make lifetime friendships and enjoy the international experience that Guiding offers while planning to share the same with my fellow Guides back home. This experience I believe will not only contribute to my Guiding and social life but also offer me a platform to gain professional skills that I will need in my career life in future.
I love travelling, adventure and exploring new things and during my free time here I would love to travel around Switzerland to experience the beauty of it.
I am greatly looking forward to having the most amazing and life changing experience of my lifetime!
Daylene Jordan (South Africa) : Guest Services Intern

My name is Laura Marmolejo, I'm from Venezuela. I'm in the Girl Guides since I was a little girl and this has been part of my life since then. I've learned with the Girl Guides that you can spend a week in a camp or helping the community and also beat all your fears with the help of your friends.

I started as a Guide when I was 14 years old and now I am Young Leader for a group of girls and boys aged 12-15.
I love hiking, camping and travelling. When I am travelling I always try to make the most of it, learning everything about the culture, especially the food.

I graduated from university two years ago in biology, and since then I have worked for AmeriCorps as a math tutor, had a marine mammal internship, and worked at a veterinary clinic. This fall I will start at veterinary school.
I have wanted to volunteer at a World Centre ever since my troop visited Pax Lodge in 2009, and I am so excited to finally be here! In previous summers I have worked at camps as a counselor, wilderness canoe guide, and other positions, so I know a lot of songs and love to hike. I'm looking forward to meeting guests and other volunteers from around the world, and learning about their countries' Guiding and Scouting traditions.
Yolanda King (UK) : Our Chalet Assistant - Summer 2017
Hi my name is Yolanda and I'm from the UK. I have been involved in Guiding since I was a Brownie at the age of 7, completing my leadership qualification at 18 and running Brownie and Guide units ever since.
I love the opportunities Girlguiding offers and have been fortunate to have had the chance to lead an international UK GOLD (Girlguiding Overseas Linked with Development) project to the Maldives in 2016 working with the Maldivian Girl Guide Association. I love meeting new people and learning about different cultures so Our Chalet seemed the next step for me and I'm looking forward to a summer of new friends and lots of hiking. In my spare time you can find me out running exploring the surrounding area, doing yoga or just generally enjoying the outdoors!

I did my Explorer Belt in Ireland and got hooked travelling and sharing the differences and similarities of Scouting around the world.
As I've previously volunteered at Pax Lodge in London and KISC (Kandersteg International Scout Centre), I thought it was time to live in the valley of Adelboden for a bit. I hope I get the best of two worlds here, the WAGGGS spirit and the mountain views. I'm looking forward to challenge myself by hiking more of the mountains and hope to see more wild animals.
If I'm not outside petting all the animals I can find, I'll be found inside watching Doctor Who, reading Harry Potter and crafting. Usually I cross-stitch or knit a long scarf.
