Our Chalet Family Autumn 2017
Meet our Autumn 2017 team.
Current Staff and Volunteers at Our Chalet!
Tanya Tulloch (USA) : Our Chalet World Centre Manager
Tanya comes to us from Beaverton, Oregon where she worked for Columbia River Girl Scout Council for 12 years as a Manager. As a Girl Scout growing up in Kentucky she liked to participate in adventure activities such as rapelling, hiking and camping. She has fallen in love with snow sports in her adult life inthe Cascade Mountains.
The idea of reaching the mission of WAGGGS through the outdoor adventure and leadership experiences has drawn Tanya to work at Our Chalet. Her background with camp management, volunteer development and strategic planning will help her to add to the team as a World Centre Manager. She is looking forward to meeting Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and other guests from all over the world while she is here.
Nikki Tucker (UK) : Deputy World Centre Manager, Operations
Hello, I am Nikki and I come from Warwick in the UK. I have been involved in Girlguiding for many years. I fell in love with Our Chalet on the first visit and have since visited many times before becoming a member of the Long Term Staff team. I'm a big fan of the outdoors and am relishing the mountain air and the fantastic hikes. In my spare time I am passionate about music and play tenor horn. My husband and I play in the Adelboden Salvation Army Band here in the village and also with Brass Band of Frutigen further down the valley. In any remaining spare time I love to travel and read.
Sarah Wach (USA) : Deputy World Centre Manager, Programme
I'm Sarah and I am from sunny Miami, Florida in the USA. I've been a Scout for over 20 years and have filled many roles within the movement, eventually finding my home here at Our Chalet. Growing up near the ocean means I spent a lot of time snorkeling, SCUBA diving, and kayaking, but relish the opportunity to spend so much time playing in the snow in this winter paradise! I tries to get outdoors as much as possible, using my free time to hike, raft, sledge, and ski. Here at Our Chalet my heart lies in the programme and the people; I especially enjoy challenging young people to try things they never thought possible (both guests and staff alike).
Rosie Greaves (UK) : Guest Services Co-Ordinator
Hi I'm Rosie and I'm from from Cambridgeshire in the UK, and in 2010 I was a Spring Volunteer her at Our Chalet. Since then, I have mostly been working in France but have managed to make regular return visits and am very excited to be back in the Swiss Alps! I have been involved in Guiding since I was five, and help out at my local Rainbow, Brownie and Guide meetings and events whenever possible during my flying visits back to the UK. In my free time, I enjoy horse riding and hiking, and am hoping to explore new hiking routes as well as re-visit old favourites. Later on, I am looking forward to playing in the snow and learning to ski. I also enjoy exploring new cities and countries, trying new food, and hopefully learning some of the local language along the way.
Simone Voit (Germany) : Programme Co-Ordinator
Hallo, I’m Simone and I’m from Germany. Before finally making it to the beautiful valley of Adelboden I was also living in the US, Norway and Austria.
I’ve been a scout since I was 8. In my association we sing a lot, so I can play the guitar, at least a little bit. Walking up mountains is one of my passions, just as much as snowboarding, but I also do not mind a cozy night in with tea and a movie.
Adrian Topic (Slovenia) : Grounds & Maintenance Assistant
My name is Adrian, I am 30 years old and I come from Slovenia. For the last few years I have been working as a professional truck driver. I have loved nature and the outdoors ever since I was a child especially the forest. I have also been a volunteer fire fighter for the past 15 years. I am looking forward to working at Our Chalet and discovering more about life here in the Swiss Alps.
Anne Sauer (Germany) : Kitchen Manager
Hello, my name is Anne and I am from
Germany. As the kitchen manager I ensure that everybody gets good food and
stays well fed at Our Chalet.
After getting my A-Levels in Germany I became an Autumn Volunteer here and decided to stay because this is such a beautiful place in the Swiss Alps with so many things to do and challenges to complete.
I became a Girl Scout, when I was ten years old, and am a Girl Scout leader for four years now. I am still actively participating in some local leader teams of my member organization via Skype.
As I love scouting, meeting new people and traveling I am looking forward to learn a lot about the different cultures at Our Chalet and in scouting worldwide and learning new life skills.
Nicole Grossen-Wilhelm (Switzerland) : Bookkeeper
Nicole is one of several Swiss members of our long term staff team. She studied accounting which eventually brought her to Our Chalet as a bookkeeper. Nicole s a true Swiss at heart is a life time devotee to white sports - perhaps being a Ski Instructor at Adelboden Ski & Snowboard school for several years has something to do with it. She has two young children and a very patient husband. Nicole works with us one day a week but we are of course always badgering her to come more often, even if only to give us beginner ski tips and have fun with us. She is also one of those efficient, hard working young women who simply knows how to just "fix things" when it comes to numbers, or taking calls in Schwytzerdütsch, an exotic language which none of us can really understand. She is fun too and joins us keenly in laughing at our office fun.
Skippy Storrow (Switzerland) : Mouse Catcher
Skippy is from Adelboden in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. Her Scouting experience is vast as she has spent much of her time at Our Chalet and is currently our longest serving member of staff!
She loves to explore the grass, eat bugs and mice and protects the grounds and guests from any possible predators such as marmots and slugs. In her free time she likes to sleep in the sunshine or in a cardboard box on someone's desk.

Hong Kong is a small place in the world. It is exciting for me to meet friends who come from different countries. It is a challenge for me to be a volunteer in Our Chalet, Switzerland. This experience would broaden my horizons. Now I am here, I look forward to learning more about Girl Guiding and serving guests. I will share this experience to my girls back in Hong Kong.
Sandrine Bwiza (Rwanda) : Our Chalet Assistant - Autumn 2017
Hello I'm Sandrine Bwiza, an autumn volunteer at our Chalet. I'm a book lover who likes writing and story telling, watching movies and discovering new things and places without forgetting my love for dancing and acting. I graduated from University in Rwanda with a bachelor degree in art and mass communication (Journalism). My home country of Rwanda is made up of thousands of hills. Before I came to this mesmerizing country full of breathtaking views, I was working with the Rwanda Girl Guide Association and have been involved in various activities of WAGGGS projects. This is my 10th year being a Girl Guide and I have no intention of stopping being one anytime soon. I consider myself to be lucky because I get to experience things that not every girl can experience. Girl Guiding has taught me so many values and principles that I follow daily and that's what has made me who I am now. In a few words : an AWESOME PERSON 😄
Louise Austin (UK) : Our Chalet Assistant - Autumn 2017
Hi - I'm Louise and I come from Southampton in the UK. I've been a member of Guides since I was 6, and somehow they still haven't kicked me out yet! When I'm not taking part in Guiding activities, or gallivanting off to other countries at a moment's notice, I like to run, rock climb and do Taekwondo (I'll soon be trying for my second Dan again!). I've also recently graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in Astrophysics.
My most recent Guiding adventure was in Norway, so I'm enjoying the Swiss heat, and looking forward to the next adventure!
Marina Florindo (Brazil) : Our Chalet Assistant - Autumn 2017
Hi, my name is Marina, I'm from the countryside of São Paulo state (Brazil), but now I'm living in Rio de Janeiro. I'm 25 years old, and I've graduated in fine arts, and work with painting, photography and graphical arts. I love contemporary art and hope to be a great artist some day!
I've been a Girl Guide since 2005, when I was 13 years old, and since then I have been a Guide, Ranger, Guide Leader and coordinator of several state activities and worked at the National Office of the Brazilian Girl Guide Association.
I love travel and I am very excited to live in another country and learn more about Guiding around the world.
Rebecca Woodburn (USA) : Our Chalet Assistant - Autumn 2017
Hi, I'm Rebecca! I hail from the sweet state of Kentucky, land of the bluegrass, in the United States; although I most recently lived on Orcas Island in Washington State.
I'm a lover of all things cheesey, soft, and wild. My likes include karaoke, wandering grocery stores in search of the perfect avocado, marine biology, bad jokes, good sweaters, puzzles, and getting women into the outdoors.
Louise Trevena (UK) : Our Chalet Assistant - Autumn 2017
I'm Louise, I'm from England and I'm nineteen. I've been part of Girlguiding since starting Rainbows, aged five, and I'm now a leader with the Rainbows unit that I used to go when I was little!
I finished studying for my A-Levels last year and have spent a year interning with the National Trust and the British Red Cross in London. It's been hard work but I've had a great time meeting new people and developing new skills.
Our Chalet is my first World Centre and my first experience abroad with Girlguiding, so everything is new and very exciting! Since I love new challenges and Guiding, I thought I'd combine the two in beautiful Switzerland. I'm really excited to spend Autumn in the Alps, making new friends and having loads of fun!
