Call for 2019 Regional Conference volunteers

Do you want to help WAGGGS unite, thrive and grow?

This is the theme of the 2019 Regional Conference which takes place in Split, Croatia 24-28 August 2019. 

Your Regional Committee needs you to help make this the best conference yet! 

WAGGGS is seeking dynamic people to join the Conference Planning Team and deliver the following key roles.

Application form

Conference Chair 

Are you confident, calm and able to command an audience? Do you want to ensure the Region’s voices are heard?

We are looking to appoint a Conference Chair to ensure that the business of the conference is properly carried out.

Procedural Team Chair and members

Do you feel passionately about good governance? Do you have an eye for detail?  

The Procedural Team supports Member Organisations to understand conference procedures and submit motions and amendments. This Team also provides support to the Chair during the conference to ensure the event is delivered in line with WAGGGS’ Constitution, Byelaws and Rules of Procedure. 

Programme Lead  

Are you a Guiding ‘keeper of the flame’? Do you love using Guiding principles to share learning and reach new discoveries? 

We need experienced and enthusiastic facilitators who can develop, lead and evaluate conference workshops; igniting the Guiding spirit in Split and ensuring the participants have a wonderful and inspiring experience.

Required volunteer hours

These roles will require a minimum of 2 hours input a week in the lead up to conference.  

During conference itself, these are all demanding roles and require full day attendance. 

All conference volunteers participate in evaluating the event and this would require a further input of time after the conference. 

The Conference Planning Team would be required to attend a meeting in Split, Croatia 8-10 March 2019. 


Applications must be returned before 4 February 2018 and will be assessed on merit, using criteria set by the Regional Committee, and all applicants will be notified if they have been successful or not before 15 February 2019.

Volunteer benefits

In return for your input at the conference, volunteers will benefit from the chance to join an international team of staff and volunteers delivering the key governance event in the region. 

You will gain exposure to event management, WAGGGS programmes and governance which may all be beneficial to your professional life. 

WAGGGS is able to support travel, accommodation and Conference registration fee costs for its volunteers.
