The triennial conference, which brings together Member Organizations across Europe to celebrate achievements of the past three years and to discuss strategies for the future development of the Movement, officially opened yesterday at the Oslofjord Convention Centre, Norway.
At the start of the event, European Committee Chair, Corinna Hauri and the Regional Director Sarah Wong warmly welcomed all delegates, observers and guests and made the official roll call. This preceded the Keynote speaker, Dr. Michele Paule, who addressed the 144 conference delegates from 36 MOs about 'Working on Gender and Leadership with the Europe Region WAGGGS'. This was followed by a short Q&A session in plenary.
Following the approval of the Rules of Procedure by the delegates, Sandra Dybowski (Germany), as the Conference Chair, Jess Dabbs (UK), Helen Gestrin (Sweden) and Leandra Marti (Switzerland) were approved as the procedural team, along with Aisling Claffey (Ireland), Ilmi Salminen (Finland) and Marianne Skovgaard Nielsen (DK)
The motions of the conference were briefly presented and will be voted on later in the Conference.
After the break the Conference heard the World Update from World Board Chair, Nicola Grinstead and WAGGGS CEO, Anita Tiessen.
This was followed by a presentation of the review of the triennial report by the Europe Committee Members.
