Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting is the world’s only movement for every girl and any girl because we believe that each of them deserves to be the best they can be. Free to make what they want from the Movement, girls learn by doing, make friends and have fun. In safe, local spaces, girls develop the skills and attitudes to change themselves, their communities and our world.
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) keeps the global Movement thriving, united and growing.
Established in 2003, the partnership with The UPS Foundation is WAGGGS’ long-running global partnership. The current phase runs from 2017 to December 2019, working with national Guide associations (Member Organisations, ‘MOs’) in 9 Member Organizations including Mexico, Nigeria, the Netherlands, the UK, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Oman and Egypt. The focus of the current phase of the partnership is Diversity & Inclusion, and Leadership Development and the aim is to increase and diversify Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting membership and leadership globally by engaging underrepresented communities and creating an inclusive environment for all.
In Nigeria, Mexico, the Netherlands and the UK the programme will develop diversity and inclusion approaches for leaders and youth members. In the Arab Region, the focus is on establishing a cross-regional framework to diversify the leadership profile of select MOs and mobilise young women to effect social change.
