About Us

Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting is the world’s only movement for every girl and any girl because we believe that each of them deserves to be the best they can be. Free to make what they want from the Movement, girls learn by doing, make friends and have fun. In brave, local spaces, girls develop the skills and attitudes to change themselves, their communities and our world. Find our brand guidelines here.

About the Project

WAGGGS is looking to commission a set of illustrations to convey our approach to leadership development, and at the same time reflect the diversity of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting around the world. The illustrations would initially be used in a reflection journal for young people and adults to use when exploring their leadership practice. We would be looking for interesting interpretations of our leadership model, conveying a clear message that will resonate with a global audience.

We anticipate a set of seven illustrations, one capturing our definition of leadership and six to represent each of our six leadership mindsets. You can learn more about our leadership model here.

Target Audience

Young women (aged 18+) and adult volunteers in the Girl Guide and Girl Scout Movement worldwide (152 countries).

Vision

We will consider any illustrative style with a preference for a hand drawn feeling using clean lines and soft colour use, suited to a reflection journal. If characters are represented it would be important to show a diversity of body types, backgrounds and ages. Using Girl Guide/Girl Scout symbols (scarves, trefoil, etc.) would be a plus.

Deliverables

- Seven illustrations in digital format (PNG and vector files), with a transparent background so they can be used on different supports. They will be used on digital and physical documents, either A5 or A4.

- A cover for the leadership journal, working in the illustration work.
