Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting is the world’s only movement for every girl and any girl because we believe that each of them deserves to be the best they can be. Free to make what they want from the Movement, girls learn by doing, make friends and have fun. In safe, local spaces, girls develop the skills and attitudes to change themselves, their communities and our world.
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) keeps the global Movement thriving, united and growing.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of some of WAGGGS’ largest funded programmes. This role will lead on the delivery of WAGGGS programmes, primarily the current phase of the long-running global partnership with the UPS Foundation. The current phase runs from 2017 to 2019, working with national Guide associations (Member Organisations, ‘MOs’) in five or more countries. The theme of this phase is ‘Diversity and Inclusion: Achieving Our Ambition’. The aim of this partnership is to increase and diversify Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting membership and leadership globally in order to create an inclusive environment for all.
Your responsibility will be to ensure the programme is delivered by MOs and your staff team to target, within budget and to good quality. You will be working across a number of WAGGGS departments, particularly with the Membership Development, Fundraising, Communications and Advocacy teams. You will be in communication with the UPS Foundation, mostly through their intermediary APCO.
The Global Programmes Manager role is not restricted to the UPS programme but is likely to include support for other programmes and may require change to manage a different programme(s) in future.
As a successful candidate, you will have significant experience in programme and project management, including managing teams and influencing others. You will have a creative and collaborative approach, and the ability to juggle a number of priorities and internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You will be experienced in managing project budgets and reporting to set objectives and targets. You will have experience in working with and directing staff and volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. You will have a strategic and solution-focused mindset. Your passion for empowering girls and young women to reach their full potential will be a key driver for your work.
