Director of Engagement

Location: London, NW3 5PQ Salary: circa £75,000 + pension (more for an exceptional candidate)

Be challenged

Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting is a truly international, volunteer-led movement that creates generations of confident, capable and daring girls, ready to speak out, take action and take the lead to make the world a better place. WAGGGS keeps the Movement thriving, united and growing. We support our Member Organisations to become even stronger, so they can help girls everywhere to speak out and take action.

The role

As a charity, we are on journey of building on our proud history to become a more dynamic and relevant global organisation, better equipped to support girls and young women in today’s world. To help us on that journey, we are recruiting an exceptional Director of Engagement to lead our fundraising, communications and advocacy teams.

Our income sits at approximately £5.5m per year, with around £3.5m of that coming from fundraising. This is of vital importance to our charity, and we are seeking the highest quality relationships fundraiser to grow our fundraising income and play an active role as a member of our senior management team, contributing to other parts our operations. We launched a new brand in 2016, and our communications team continues to work closely with fundraising. Our excellent advocacy team has continued to do great work, particularly on youth and gender equality, and we have worked closely with a number of external partners including UN Women, the UN Refugee Agency and UNICEF Global Partnership to End Violence against Children.

Be involved

Coming from a background in the charity sector, ideally having worked for an international charity or complex structure, you will be very passionate about girls and young women and the opportunities available to them. The role itself will involve engaging with multiple stakeholders, so we are looking for a people person, attuned to the sensitivities of high value relationships. You will have the personal skills and gravitas to steward and influence senior stakeholders both internally and externally, as well as passion for the mentoring and development of staff.

This is a crucial role for our organisation and we are incredibly excited about welcoming a new Director of Engagement to our charity.
