This year’s World Thinking Day theme is Connect, where we will be exploring and celebrating the meaningful connections that make our lives better – whether to the people closest to us, to a place we care about, or to Girl Guide or Girl Scout friends on the other side of the world.
Here are our top tips to make the most of this World Thinking Day:
1. Earn the World Thinking Day 2016 badge
Download the activity pack and challenge your group to connect in four different ways: with you, with friends, with WAGGGS and with the world. Collect the four puzzle pieces, each representing a different connection and make your #Connect10Million frame. Don’t forget to take a group photo and share it with the world!
2. Global Connection
Let’s spread the word and invite as many people as possible to celebrate our global movement. Join the celebrations by adding the #Connect10Million frame to your social media profile photo and invite five friends to add the frame too. How many people do you think we can connect with?!
3. World Thinking Day Fund
The World Thinking Day fund supports WAGGGS’ work to deliver life changing opportunities for girls around the world. Fundraising for the World Thinking Day fund has been a tradition for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts since 1932. In 2016, we invite you to donate to the fund online, through our JustGiving Page, or via CAF Donate.
4. Tell the world
Use World Thinking Day as an opportunity to tell the media what your group gets up to. Invite community press to your events, write articles for local media and promote your activities through social media to the local community.
5. Have fun!
World Thinking Day is all about appreciating the Girl Guide and Girl Scout experience, and to show the world how it amazing it is to be part of the Movement. So whatever you decide to do this year....enjoy!
