The Olave Baden-Powell Society (OB-PS) supports the Mission of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) to enable girls and young women to develop their full potential as responsible citizens of the world. More than 1,300 individuals from 59 countries have chosen to express their commitment to the future, to girls and young women, through WAGGGS. All financial support goes directly to WAGGGS in order to help its essential work, projects, programmes and events for girls and young women. Last year OB-PS provided 8% of WAGGGS income, which amounted to £476,000.
OB-PS also offers members the chance to stay connected with others from the global Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Movement. We are a unique network of individuals with a shared interest in Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting. Becoming a member gives individuals the chance to support the Movement, ensure its sustainability, and also keep in touch with Girl Guides and Girl Scouts through special events.
OB-PS has supported a wide range of WAGGGS programmes, training events and projects over the years. In 2015 it funded the 'Train the Trainers' event held at Pax Lodge, UK, bringing together 44 participants from around the world. They funded a National Stop the Violence Event in Sri Lanka which allowed for the campaign to be spread out across the country and reach girls at a grass roots level. Through scholarships, grants and full event funding, the Olave Baden-Powell Society provides vital support to WAGGGS.
