Proposed Motions and inspiration in the plenary
Today’s plenary session focused on Proposed Motions. This marked a shift from discussing high-level objectives and the overall vision for WAGGGS over the next three years, to focusing on the detail of the objectives and the motions needed for them to become reality.
Part way through the discussions, there was a great deal of excitement as two Member Organizations from Benin and Liberia joined the Conference. The auditorium celebrated as they arrived despite great difficulties.
After going through the Proposed Motions, several of the young women attending the World Conference provided their reflections on the Conference. At the start they asked all those under 30 to stand up, and it was great to see a good number of people stand up. The Philippines young delegate inspired us with the words "Young women are not leaders of tomorrow, but leaders of today".
We then continued to hear more about changing lives and achieving dreams when more young delegates spoke about their experiences of the World Centres. From Juliette Low Seminars to leading a group of young people, there were a variety of stories which many in the audience could relate to.
“The session left me more determined than ever to visit Sangam, my final World Centre, and gave me a great experience of how the vision of WAGGGS for the next three years will become a reality.” Sheila, Newsletter team
Expo provides opportunities for learning
External partners, WAGGGS and Member Organizations took over the James Watt II hall today with stands showcasing their work. It was also an opportunity for delegates to network and share ideas.
Representatives from organizations including Plan UK, Save the Children and the International Award were available to speak with delegates, and there were also stands from WAGGGS initiatives such as World Thinking Day. Some of our Member Organizations displayed stands information about their projects and work.
