63rd Commission on the Status of Women

WAGGGS delegates will be representing the voices of 10 million girls and young women at CSW63 in March 2019

At WAGGGS we believe that when girls speak out about issues that affect them, they have the power to make the world a better place for everyone, so we are really excited to share our new video featuring our Advocacy Champions lobbying global leaders at the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York with you.

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global policy making body dedicated exclusively to gender equality and the advancement of women. Every year, representatives of UN Member States gather at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. They evaluate progress on gender equality, identify challenges, set global standards and formulate concrete policies to promote gender equality and the advancement of women worldwide.

Why do we attend?

WAGGGS has been attending CSW each year for the last decade, using the conference as an opportunity to advocate for the rights of girls and young women and directly engage with decision makers.

The 63rd session, from 11 to 22 of March, provides an opportunity to speak out on behalf of girls around the world and ensure their needs, priorities and voices are heard.
