WLDP Japan 2012 - 005WAGGGS and the Girl Scouts of Japan is hosting a WAGGGS Leadership Development Programme(WLDP) in Tokyo, Japan from 2-7 October 2012. This event is partially funded by the International Scout and Guide Fellowship (ISGF), the Anne Scott Fund of the Olave Baden-Powell Society and Friends of Asia Pacific WAGGGS (FAPW) and the Asia Pacific Region of WAGGGS.

This event themed "Shared leadership - shaping the future" aims to explore leadership concepts and styles, develop leadership skills for the next generation of leaders, share best practices in leadership and leading others, build a network of internatonal leaders who can support each other and provide opportunity for more Japanese young leaderst o learn and experience leadership in an international setting.

We learned that leaders have many different qualities because we did many fun activities with a variety of teaching methods that taught us about different leadership styles

This event brings together 42 participants from 21 countries, including 18 participants from Japan.

Besides important sessions on leadership, participants will also get the opportunity to learn about the leadership journey of three prominent leaders in Japan through the field visit to Hon. Yuriko Koike, a female Member of Parliament of Japan, Dr Hideko Kunii, Chair, Ricoh IT Solutions Co. Ltd and Mr Yukio Sonoyama, an expert in crisis management and revitalising corporate companies.

As part of the intercultural learning, the Girl Scouts of Japan has also prepared activities such as kimono wearing and traditional Japanese tea ceremony for the participants.
