The Regional Committee is responsible for the development of Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting in the Region and in particular for the implementation of the Regional Conference decisions. Since its creation, the region has organized 34 Africa Committee meetings. The meetings are held in a member country each year. The first meeting took place in Tanzania in 1976.
The Africa Committee WAGGGS was elected by delegates to the 9th Africa Regional Conference, which met in Madagascar in June 2010.
The Africa Committee works closely with Alphonsine Kabagabo, Regional Director, Africa Region based at WAGGGS World Bureau in London.
