Which of the three MDGs are most important to you, your local community and your country?

Olaide Victoria Ajala, 18 years, Nigeria

Gender equality is very important in my community and in my country, Nigeria. Many of our girls and young women are not given the same opportuniteis that men, especially in areas of education. There is still discrimination.

Amy Spark, 22, Australia

Gender equality is the most important issue to me personally, even though I live in a country where this is seen as a given. We have the right, but many do not take it believing themselves unable to achieve in areas that are traditionally male dominant such as engineering and politics. I see this on a daily basis as an engineering student. This was also recently seen in our recent election as our first female prime minister campaigned to hold government and all any one could comment on was her looks, the fact that she is female and her accent. Very little was said of her policies and abilities as a politician which are considerable.

Jasmine Natasha Rajah, Malaysia

I believe that ending hunger is the most important issue for me and the one that is close to my heart because I've seen my own people die from hunger. Malaysia is a developing country and yet, there are still those who live in poverty and they are hungry all the time.

What do you hope to gain from attending the Forum in terms of your personal development?

Nele Rath, Germany

I hope to develop more intercultural understanding as well as getting to know different points of view and aspects of global matters. Meeting with so many different nationalities will hopefully also enable me to have a look beyond the rim of my teacup.

Sendy Carolina Zelaya Gonzalez, Honduras

I hope to make long lasting friendships, acquire knowledge, but above all, I want to acquire more experience in the field of the Millennium Development Goals.

Naima Rashid, Pakistan

I hope to improve my self-awareness and gain a broader view about MDGs from other experiences. It will help me in development methods, learning programs, assessment systems, tools and techniques. It will enable me to develop a framework whether change has actually occurred or not which may include goals or benchmarks that define the end-points, strategies or plans for reaching goals, measurement and assessment of progress, levels or stages that define milestones along a development path, and a feedback system to provide information on changes

Tatiana Warakian, Lebanon

I believe the forum will be a great experience for me, it would help me in gaining more self-confident and motivate me to develop my fullest potential and work harder in my country with my girls.
