12th Girl Scout International Camp 2009 Held In Korea

Girl Scouts Korea successfully completed the 12th Girl Scout International Camp 2009, Incheon attended by 10,000 participants from 42 countries from 5 to 11 August under the sponsorship of the Asia Pacific Region, WAGGGS, Korean Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs and Incheon Metropolitan City.The Camp theme was "Make your tomorrow", and every camper tried to make an Eco-friendly Camp by reducing food waste, saving water and not using disposables. They felt the importance of environmental conservation while practising environmental protection. All Campers had the opportunity to develop their skills by actively participating in 48 kind of various on-site activities in six programme areas such as camping, professional experiences (handicrafts, cartoonist, magician), Girl Scouts programme, health, global activities and challenges. The participants also gained a better understanding of what the Girl Scouts spirit meant and shared the international friendship and a happy feeling of togetherness during the camp. 14 teams from different countries gave wonderful performances to share their culture on International Night which was one of the highlights of the camp. The Korean Prime Minister, Seung-su Han and the Girl Scout PR Ambassador singing group 'Girlsgeneration' attended the opening ceremony to celebrate the International Camp.
