After four very successful Fifth World Centre Pilot Project events in Ghana, South Africa, Rwanda and Kenya it was decided to take the Pilot Project to Nigeria to run a seven day programme aimed to develop young women’s leadership skills.
Sally Elkes, Director of Membership Development said: “This is a big day for the Nigerian Girl Guides Association and for the World Association and I am delighted to see such a fantastic event helping young girls and women to develop in the Africa region. To have access to essential life skills that are the essence of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting, is a great opportunity for all involved and is at the heart of what we do as a global organization.”
The event starts on 23rd April and runs until 29th April in Lagos, Nigeria. The participants from all over the Africa Region will get the opportunity to learn about the different WAGGGS initiatives and of course learn from each other about leadership development, in the unique Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting spirit that WAGGGS has to offer! They will also Take Action by developing projects to take home to their own countries.
We can’t wait to see what they get up to and how they will Take Action when they get home!
