COP 17 ActionFor over a century, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts have been taking action on important issues in their local communities and countries.

Throughout the rest of the year WAGGGS will call its member to take action on internationally recognised days.

First off, WAGGGS and its members will mark the International Day of Peace on 21 September 2012.

WAGGGS is working with Peace One Day as part of the Global Truce 2012 to create the largest reduction of violence ever recorded on one day. Click here for more information about WAGGGS and Peace One Day. Keep watching the WAGGGS website for activity suggestions and ideas on how you can take action on the day.

Secondly, WAGGGS will celebrate the first ever International Day of the Girl on 11 October. The day aims to promote girls’ rights and highlight existing inequalities both gender and age-wise. Watch the Imagine More webpage for more information.

From the 25 November to 10 December, WAGGGS and our members will recognise the 16 Days of Activism against Violence against Women. As part of the Stop the Violence campaign, we want all Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to take one big action. But we want you to decide the action! If you have an innovative suggestion on what this action could be please email stoptheviolence@wagggsworld.org
