Global Call for Action Against Poverty

The Global Call to Action Against Poverty(GCAP) is a worldwide alliance of 112 national campaigning coalitions, faith groups, trade unions, community groups and individuals working to tackle poverty and inequality in their countries and around the world.
The Global Month of Action begins on 16 September, after the International Monetary Fund and World Bank met in Singapore, and culminates on 17 October, the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, in a Global White Band Day.
- To keep pressure on governments to eradicate poverty, inequality and achieve the Millennium Development Goals, through:

- Public accountability, just governance and the fulfilment of human rights, including workers’ rights
- Trade justice
- A major increase in the quantity and quality of aid and financing for development
- Debt cancellation

WAGGGS calls to join the fight against poverty to improve the health of girls and young women around the world.
What you can do
There are many ways in which Girl Guides and Girl Scouts can take action and Stand Up Against Poverty during the Global Month of Action.
