Dear Caitlyn

This is indeed a tremendous ( and well-deserved) honor! Way to go Caitlyn! This scouting activity is one I can truly understand and respect because I myself was a Girl Scout through my senior year in high school. (My mom was our troop leader from the Brownies on up to Seniors.) I got to meet Lady Badenpowell personally when she came to Philadelphia for a jambourie with Scouts from all over the world. When she learned that my parents and I were to be in London for a few days on our way to Italy in the summer, she graciously insisted that we pay her a visit. She sent her car and driver to pick us up and bring us to her apartment in Hampton Court Palace for tea. (It is the palace that was built and lived in by King Henry VIII. The crown had awarded an apartment to her and her husband because of the service they had done for the country,) It was a memorable experience. We also ran into her at Our Chalet in Switzerland later during the summer.
I am telling you all of this so you will see that I know first hand what a thrill it will be for you to be in Chicago and meet the girls from all over the globe. It is a fantastic opportunity to make new friends. You have every reason to be proud and happy. Enjoy every minute.

Love, Bonnie
