WAGGGS and WOSM hold a joint press conference at COP 17

28 representatives from the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) are at the United Nations climate change conference, COP 17, representing their 40million strong membership with the clear message that countries must reach a fair, ambitious and binding agreement in Durban.

Whilst many nations are paying scant attention to their populations’ demands on climate change, WAGGGS and WOSM are actively consulting their members. To help formulate its COP 17 strategy, WAGGGS conducted a global environment survey in September 2011 in over 100 countries. With a strong mandate from its membership, WAGGGS and WOSM have come to COP 17 with five key demands.
