Asociación de Guías y Scouts de Chile's Centenary Celebrations ‘100 years; the woman I want to be’.
16 January 2014
More than three thousand GG/GS celebrated the centenary in Rancagua.
The celebration of "100 years, the woman I want to be" was a complete success. The GG/GS of Chile commemorated their Centenary in Rancagu – the place where GG/GS began in our country. Activities such as games, workshops, forums and many others took place for the participants.
Patrols and Companies from Arica to Osorno participated in the celebrations organised by the National Guide Branch Committee to commemorate the Centenary of GG/GS in Chile. We focused on the past, present and future plans for the Movement.
At the Casa del Pilar Museum a retrospective exhibition was shown which gave participants the opportunity to find out about the roots of GG/GS and how it developed in its first few years of existence. On show were photos, documents, objects and uniforms from this era.
“Focusing on the present, we had discussions and theme-based activities which are of interest to girls, such as relationship violence or adolescent pregnancy. The future focused on what our girls and young women would like” explained Fabiola González, National Commissioner.
We would like to congratulate all the Brownies, Guides, Seniors and Guiders who have helped to build and strengthen the Girl Guide/Girl Scout Movement in Chile. We hope we can continue to work with the same level of enthusiasm and that Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting continues to grow.
