Calling all climate advocates…Represent WAGGGS at COP 19
25 June 2013
Are you a positive, passionate climate advocate?
Are you confident to speak out for girls and young women at an international level?
Are you committed to taking action on climate change at local and national level, with your Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting organization, after the conference?
Apply now to represent WAGGGS at COP 19 in Warsaw, Poland in November 2013! (See application form for delegate criteria).
WAGGGS has been taking delegations of young women to UN climate conferences since 2009 to speak out for the rights of Girls and Young Women and directly engage with decision-makers at a global level. COP is also an opportunity for WAGGGS members to promote their Member Organizations and personal climate change projects.
What do WAGGGS COP Delegates do?
Before the Conference: WAGGGS delegates take part in pre-event training over Skype, complete tasks and do independent research to build their knowledge and skills. They also make connections with their national governments and other NGOs ahead of the conference.
During the Conference: WAGGGS delegates follow and track negotiations, participate at side events, use blogging, social media and give media interviews to share their experiences and climate expertise. They also work with youth from around the world to raise awareness and take action to make our voices heard. They work very hard but have lots of fun!
After the Conference: WAGGGS delegates use the knowledge and contacts they gain to develop and implement action plans to tackle climate change, with support from their MO, on a local/national level when they return home.
