22 February 2012

How can I celebrate World Thinking Day?

  1. Tweet #GirlsSaveOurPlanet
  2. Follow us on Twitter or Facebook for photos and updates
  3. Send your photos to WAGGGS at joannes@wagggs.org
  4. Log your activities on our interactive map
  5. Send a World Thinking Day e-card to your friends
  6. Donate to the World Thinking Day Fund to help develop Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting around the world
  7. See World Thinking Day greetings from around the world
  8. Learn more about our focus countries Guyana, Japan, Ivory Coast, Russia and Tunisia by reading our Activity Pack profiles about them
  9. Think about how you could raise money to help sustain the Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Movement. Try out our fundraising ideas, or ask people to donate small amounts through our Facebook page.
  10. Contribute to the Rio+20 consultation. Help ensure the voice of girls and young women are heard at Rio+20, the UN’s conference on sustainable development

Today, WAGGGS wishes ‘happy World Thinking Day’ to all Girl Guides and Girl Scouts! Up to 10 million girls in 145 countries around the world are spending today reflecting on their international friendships, thinking about the environment, and raising money for the World Thinking Day Fund.

Remember to help us tell the whole world that today is World Thinking Day by sending World Thinking Day e-cards to your friends, and tweeting with the hashtag #GirlsSaveOurPlanet.

Watch our Twitter and Facebook pages for updates throughout the day to see how your fellow Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world are celebrating. Why not get in touch yourself and tell us what you’re doing today? Contact us through Twitter, on Facebook, by writing on our Activity Map or by email.

It’s not too late to plan an activity for World Thinking Day! Our Activity Pack has suggestions for how to mark the day, and most of them require little or no preparation. Don’t forget to donate any proceeds from your activity.

Here is a message from WAGGGS World Board chairman Nadine El Achy to remind us why World Thinking Day, and the global Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting movement, are so important:
