Juliette Low Seminar 2006

The prestigious Juliette Low Seminar occurs twice each triennium. The event provides a platform for young women from around the world to discuss leadership issues and develop their leadership skills.

Some of the bright young leaders of the futureThis year, the theme was ’Values-based Leadership in an International Setting’ and it took place from 27 August 2006 to 2 September 2006.

The Sangam World Centre hosted the event and participants attended sessions on all aspects of leadership and leadership development. There was also an opportunity to visit local organisations to discuss leadership in an Indian context.

What happened? Read the daily updates!

During the seminar, the young women participating posted daily updates to this section.  Visitors to the site left comments which were read out during reflections every morning.

Each day has its own page so look out for polls, news and photos.  Don’t forget to take part in the polls – we still want to find out from YOU what your opinion is on burning issues from the seminar!

Dear JLS participants!
With greatest interest and joy I read your daily report and I am happy to see all your smiling faces on the pictures! I just wanted to wish you all the best for an unforgettable time in Sangam!
I just wanted to tell you, how important your work is - not only for the girls and yourselves, but also for OB-PS. Because if you do a good work, we can share the story with the outside world and tell them, how young women take their lives in their hands and that we want to support them through WAGGGS. Leadership is a key word. This is the most important skill to move WAGGGS on grasroots and also to give young women a tool in their hands to make them more self-confident. Leadership is the key word also in the environment of people who could be potential members of OB-PS and this allows us to support you - the g. and y.w. Have a succesful and fun time together!
I am looking forward to hearing more of the event when we are in Sangam after your event!

Best wishes to all of you!

Charlotte

One of the most important and rewarding values of GirlScouting/Guiding around the world is the ability to foster international awareness and friendship among sisters. Fortunately all of you got great opportunities to do that.
We hope that all of you enjoy the seminar and improve your leadership skills!!!

Liz Burnley, Chief Guide, Girlguiding UK - 30 August 2006 - 8.07AM (GMT)

Namaste! Have a wonderful seminar - and make the most of the chance to work together to really make a difference. For me, values based leadership is what we do best within our movement and finding ways to do that better is so important. Enjoy the personal experience too - I know that JLSs change lives - I went to the JLS in Mexico 19 years ago and it changed my life fundamentally. Make the most of an amazing opportunity - and have a GREAT time!!

Diane Dixon - 29 August 2006 - 10.41PM (GMT)

You all look and sound as if you are having a fantastic time in Sangam at the JLS and I know that over the years, you will remember this event as a very special one. Enjoy every moment. What you learn at this event will stay with you as you move through the rest of your Guiding life and help you to develop your fullest potential.
Have fun,

Greetings to all of you at the Juliette Low seminar!

International Guiding has changed my life in an amazing number of ways, and perhaps will change yours too (if it hasn't already).

I hope that this week will be an inspiration for you to go back home, spread the word, take on a new challenge, and become not just the leaders of tomorrow, but the leaders of today.

And have lots of fun too!!!!
