We’re taking a Flag for the Future to the North Pole as a symbol of our joint commitment to protect the Arctic − but we need your help.

Calling all creative, eco-conscious young people! This is your chance to design a flag that will send a message of peace, hope and global community to the world. Are you up to the challenge?
Greenpeace and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts are hosting a global competition to design a flag representing the youth of the world; a flag for peace, hope and global community.
The competition was open from 26 November 2012 to 27 February 2013. Terms and conditions are available in multiple languages.
The winning design will be taken to the North Pole, at the top of the world.
There, we will lower it four kilometres beneath the ice and plant it on the seabed in a time capsule containing the signatures of millions of Arctic defenders.
At the moment, no single country owns the high seas around the North Pole. But as the Arctic melts, countries and companies are eyeing it greedily.
The Arctic matters to everybody everywhere, and what happens to the Arctic will affect us all. Young people today will probably live to see a time when the Arctic sea ice melts completely in the summer months.
This is why we need a Flag for the Future – not a flag representing one nation or one group of people, but a flag that stands for universal hope, peace and global cooperation.
We are looking for imagination and creativity!
The competition was open to anyone aged 6 to 26.
Short-listed designs were evaluated by a judging panel including globally renowned fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. This panel selected the overall winner.
The winning design will be produced as a flag to be planted at the North Pole.

Prizes
The winner of Flag for the Future will have their design printed onto a flag. Greenpeace will take this flag to the North Pole and plant it on the seabed as a symbol of young people’s desire to protect the Arctic.
The judges will also select 15 finalists who will receive a Save the Arctic T-shirt and a beautiful book, “The Arctic: Treasure of the North”, signed by Vivienne Westwood.
A number of selected entries will be displayed in our online gallery for public viewing.
