Twenty-three people from seven developing countries and six developed countries are currently attending the United Nations climate change conference (COP15) as part of the WAGGGS delegation.

Government representatives of most countries worldwide gather in Copenhaguen, Denmark, from 7 to 18 December to negotiate and agree upon a way forward on how to tackle climate change. A total of 193 countries are represented at this conference. These nations will hopefully negotiate policies to reduce carbon emissions worldwide and create climate justice for all. This meeting will influence our future and the future of those who are yet to come.

WAGGGS key messages include:

  • Climate change disproportionately affects girls and women
  • Youth and civil society need to be part of the solution for climate change
  • Governments must strengthen their climate change commitments-

WAGGGS knows that Climate Change is real and that now is the time to act. The WAGGGS delegation will ensure that the youth voice is heard in the Conference and that decision-makers are aware that it is today’s youth who will face the consequences of their decisions. For further information see www.cop15.org

During COP15 we will be holding a display stand in the exhibition hall.We are also planning an event inside the conference venue

Keep checking the daily updates from the delegates on this website.

Greetings from COPenhagen!

Hi girls.
Just as Rima, I am a part of your WAGGGS delegation at COP 15. We are doing our best to push forward our agenda: the fact that girls and women are affected the most by climate changes. In a short time you will be able to read our blogs from here, as well as watch lots of pictures and videos. If you can't wait go directly to: /www.flickr.com/photos/wagggsatcop15

We all are looking to Copenhagen with a lot of hope! Who will be responsible, if we can't make progress or changes which have an impact on all? Therefore it's so meaningful to say: save our planet - we have to and I am very proud, that so many from WAGGGS are present in Copenhagen.Good luck, a lot of wisdom and creative ideas and probably also some patience. Greetings to you all!

Hello all girl guides and girl scouts from all around the world! I am here NOW at the COP15 in copenhagen with the young WAGGGS rrepresentatives! The opening ceremony will take place in just a few hours and we are all veryyyy excited about it!
We are here to represent the 10 million members of WAGGGS who in one voice demand a legal agreement among the nations to reduce carbon emissions. We are well aware how climate change affects mostly chirldren and women who are the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. But 'girls wirld wide say: "we can save our planet"'!!!
