Friendship Caravan on the Silk Road 2012The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association (HKGGA) is pleased to invite girls and adults from Member Organizations in the Asia Pacific Region to participate in the "Friendship Caravan on the Silk Road 2012" which will take place from 3 - 15 August 2012. The journey will cover Beijing, Shanxi, Gansu and Xinjiang with friendship exchanges and educational visits along the way.

HKGGA in collaboration with Asia Pacific Region, WAGGGS organized a similar event in 2001 which also covered many stops along the Silk Road. The "Friendship Caravan on the Silk Road 2012" is expected to bring together 600 young people which includes 300 youths from Mainland China, 200 Girl Guides from Hong Kong and 100 Girl Guides / Girl Scouts from across the Asia Pacific Region.

Below are details of the event:

Date: 3 - 15 August 2012 (13 day/12 night)

Destination: Arrival and Departure Beijing

Cities visited: Beijing, Shanxi, Gansu (Silk Road)

Accommodation: Train and 3-star Hotels en route

Transportation: Chartered train from Beijing to Silk Road and return, coaches on some parts of the trip

Participation: Girls age 13 and above, one (1) adult leader to each group of 3-5 girls. Unlimited number of participants from each Member Organization on a first come first serve basis.

Fees: USD 1,000 (inclusive of airport transfers, train fare, accommodation, meals, sightseeing, exchange activities and souvenirs during the event)

Travel to Beijing: Participants have to make own arrangements for transportation between own country and Beijing and for entry visa to China

Interested Member Organizations are requested to send the following forms to Hong Kong Girl Guides Association by 25 May 2012. Invitation letter, itinerary and forms can be downloaded here
